Great article. Independent wrestling holds a special place in my heart. I got into wrestling at the end of the attitude era. When WCW and ECW closed there was only really WWE in the mainstream. In 2003 I decided to dive into Indy wrestling such as ROH, CZW, MLW ect and it opened up a whole new world of wrestling for me. Stars that competed in this time shaped the future of the business. Not to mention the British wrestling boom of Progress and Rev pro. I hope you are right and Indy wrestling has a resurgence with collaborations from other companies.

That was a great time to get into independent wrestling. It wasn't the biggest "boom" period in the independent circuit, but you saw some great wrestlers before they made it big.

Oh man I hope it actually happens. One of my favorite experiences from traveling for WM28 and WM30 was going to indie shows happening that same week.

Most of the wrestlers from those indie shows are now WWE and AEW main eventers, and it was fun to see where they started.

With the performance center and all, it's getting harder to see young indie talents rise.

Great article!

Same! Although it wasn’t a Mania weekend, I always loved hitting indie shows when AEW brought All Out weekend around Chicago. Appreciate you sharing
